Image of baby who might need oral surgery to correct lip or tongue tie issues.“Tongue Tie” is a condition where the tissue on the underside of the tongue that connects to the floor of your child's mouth is too short, limiting the tongue’s range of motion. If your child has this condition, Dr. Danner can perform a frenectomy to correct it.

In infants, a tongue tie can cause problems with breastfeeding, and in young children, it can cause speech delays. Treatment for this condition is relatively simple, and early intervention is key.

If you need a gingivectomy to treat gum disease or improve the cosmetic appearance of your smile, Dr. Danner will surgically remove damaged gum tissue using either a dental laser or a scalpel. A gingivectomy is a common oral surgical procedure and usually only takes 30-60 minutes.

Gingival Flap Surgery

Gingival flap surgery is an oral surgery procedure Dr. Danner uses to treat moderate or advanced gum disease. If non-invasive gum disease treatment has not worked, gingival flap surgery is usually the recommended next step to get your smile healthy again.

Bone Grafting

Periodontal disease can cause the jawbone to become too weak to support a dental implant. In cases like this, Dr. Danner will often recommend bone grafting (also known as natural bone regeneration) to promote healthy bone growth and thicken your jawbone. Over time, your jawbone will naturally regenerate and become strong enough to support a dental implant.

Sinus Lift

If you're getting dental implants in your upper jaw, you may need a sinus lift surgical procedure first. During this procedure, our dental team will add new bone between your jaw and maxillary sinuses. In order to make room for this bone, your sinus membrane is moved upward. A successful sinus lift will help create healthy bone mass to support dental implants.

Gentle Tooth Extractions

Our goal is to always try to preserve your natural teeth. However, when a tooth is too badly decayed to save, Dr. Danner will perform a gentle tooth extraction. An extraction may also be recommended if the tooth is severely fractured or is crowding other healthy teeth.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Not all wisdom teeth need to be extracted, but if your wisdom teeth are impacted and are crowding your teeth, or if gum disease is present, you may be a candidate for wisdom tooth surgery. In many situations, it’s best to pull the wisdom teeth before they jeopardize your smile as a whole. At the earliest, wisdom teeth are removed in the mid-teen years, but third molars do not finish developing until closer to about 30 years of age so the timing for this procedure varies.

We will take a panoramic radiograph of your entire jaw, so we can see the size, location, and developmental trajectory of the wisdom teeth in consideration and determine if removal is necessary.

Man feeling pain from a wisdom tooth will need oral surgery to help the pain.Do you still have your wisdom teeth? Are they causing you problems? A complete removal is not always the best option. In some patients, the roots of the wisdom teeth in the lower jaw can become entangled in the nerves that supply feeling to your lips, chin, and tongue. In cases such as these, Dr. Danner may suggest a coronectomy instead of a full wisdom tooth extraction.

A coronectomy procedure allows for the removal of the wisdom teeth without the removal of the roots themselves. This is done by removing the crown of the tooth and leaving the roots intact. Coronectomy is a safer alternative when a surgical extraction runs the risk of causing nerve damage.
