What are veneers?
Veneers are thin, custom-fit porcelain shells designed to cover the front side of teeth. Veneers are made by a dental lab technician, usually in a dental lab, working from a model provided by Dr. Danner. The procedure for veneers requires little or no anesthesia and can usually be completed in two visits.

Why would someone want veneers?
Veneers are a beautiful, natural-looking way to cover teeth that are worn, stained, cracked or chipped. They are also referred to as a type of "instant orthodontics" because they can make teeth that are slightly crooked look straight in a matter of two visits (instead of the 6-18 months usually required of traditional orthodontics/braces). Veneers can also be used to close unwanted gaps between teeth.

How is a veneer different than a crown?
A veneer is a much more conservative approach to changing a tooth's color, size or shape. To prepare teeth for veneers, only the front sides of those teeth are lightly buffed to allow for the small added thickness of the veneer. In contrast, to prepare teeth for crowns, all sides of the teeth are shaped so that the crown can fit over the entire tooth structure.

Chipped fromt teeth can be corrected with lumineers or veneers.Veneers were placed over this person's chipped teeth to give her a flawless smile!

Lumineers
In addition to the traditional porcelain veneer, our office now offers a second veneer option to our patients: Lumineers. Lumineers are made of the thinnest porcelain material available today, which provides an end result that does not look "bulky" or "thick" (a complaint with some traditional veneer makeovers). Lumineers typically require very little tooth structure to be removed and, for most patients, is virtually painless. Another great aspect of Lumineers is that they can be placed over existing crowns or bridgework without having to replace them.
