Thank you again for the exceptional skill and care I received at my last visit. Each and every one a professional and 'person - centered' friend.

Kids Corner: Every child wants his/her own place to hang out, and we have just the solution in our dental office reception area! Tucked away in a cozy corner (but still visible to Mom or Dad sitting nearby) is our plush Kids Corner, stocked with books, stuffed animals and other imaginative toys to keep your child occupied before his/her dental appointment.

No Cavity Club: The No Cavity Club is a motivational tool to encourage your child to take good care of his/her teeth. Children ages 17 and under can participate after completing a cavity-free dental check-up. After every continuing care appointment, your child can select a prize from our treasure chest and also be entered for our monthly grand prize! Grand prizes given in the past include a brand-new bicycle, a giant stuffed animal, a sled, and more!

(If your child does have a cavity at his/her dental check-up, he/she can still participate in the Club once treatment for that tooth is completed.)

Movies: To help your child relax during a dental appointment, she may choose a movie from our library of movies, or she can bring her favorite selection from home (DVD format).

Conscious Oral Sedation: If your child is extremely nervous or apprehensive about dental work that needs done, Dr. Danner may recommend that your child have conscious oral sedation prior to dental treatment. Conscious oral sedation is a liquid medication administered at our office prior to the dental procedure. Under conscious oral sedation, the child remains fully conscious but will feel more relaxed and/or sleepy.

Sealants: Dental sealants are highly recommended for everyone but especially for children. A dental sealant is a clear plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of the molars and the premolars. This is where decay most often occurs - in the grooves and depressions (called pits and fissures) of these teeth. Pits and fissures are deep and hard to clean, even with good brushing. By forming a thin covering over this area, sealants create a physical barrier against plaque and therefore decreases the person's risk for decay. Sealants take only a few minutes to apply, are completely painless, and will usually remain in place for 5 to 10 years.

First Visit: A child's first visit should be completed by the age of 18 months, and continuing care visits should be scheduled every six months thereafter, according to Dr. Danner. By starting dental visits at an early age and helping your child establish good oral health habits, you can put your child on the path to a lifetime of strong and healthy teeth and gums. Be positive when you are talking to your child about the dentist and help your child understand that the dentist is a friendly doctor who will help your child take care of his/her teeth.
